Bad Lads Army, features former WO2 Nooky Nauyokas. Richard Carlton Nauyokas is a British television personality, who between 2002-2006 appeared as a military instructor in the Bad Lads Army reality television series which re-created British National Service military training from the 1950s.

Richard Carlton Nauyokas is a British television personality, who between 2002-2006 appeared as a military instructor in the Bad Lads Army reality television series which re-created British National Service military training from the 1950s. A former professional soldier with the British Army, he now runs a motivational training consultancy called Not All Bad.

C – Sergeant Major, how are you?

N – I’m alright, it’s been a long time since I was called that.

C – Respect where respects due.

N – Very Kind.

C – Was it hard for your ego in the Bad Lad series where you have to be a corporal?

N – No, not really. I’ve been a military training instructor all my life and you train recruits at the level you train recruits at. I’d actually applied for the role as a Sergeant Major. The guy thought I looked too young to be a Sergeant Major of that era and offered me a part-time corporal role. Which means I went on weekends or on their days off. So I decided it was a bit of exposure in the direction I wanted to go, so I accepted it. It then turned out that the guy who had my original place, was an actor and they wanted someone who’d had a military background. My background gave the qualification I needed to do that job. So they sacked the actor and gave me the job.
