Transcript from ‘United States Marine Corps To Bus Life’ podcast

Jess – I went to originally to boot camp in Paris Island where the majority of women went at the time. All females went to Paris Island, while the men went to the West Coast if they were west of the Mississippi. That was at San Diego, or east coast Paris Island if they were east of the Mississippi. Now it’s actually an integrated recruit training and so they’re starting to have female battalions at other locations too. My time was there and it was definitely swampy. Lots of sand and great weather too!

Chris – Do the girls do the same training as the boys?

Jess – They do and the only difference is the MOs or the job. If you are in an infantry or combat field then you go on to TBI, which is the infantry battalion and you do more austere training. Essentially it’s pretty gritty and difficult. For everybody else with the support roles or jobs, they go to combat training.

Transcript from ‘Secrets Of Bushcraft’ podcast

Nick – We know that our bodies respond extremely well to being in the Great Outdoors. It’s the environment from once we’ve came. We know that people like wild swimming, we know that people like nature bathing. You can scream to the top of your lungs on every social media platform about why we should be doing this. Until someone’s really ready and until they’ve reached that point when they’re looking and their eyes are open. They’re searching for the answer and only then, when that person’s actually ready you know, they’ll find a way.

People can’t see the way they are and the way the fish can’t see the water. I’ve sort of taken that and thought, yes that’s that’s quite accurate. Sometimes you’ve got to save your own energy for yourself and go and enjoy it.

How I Became A Welsh Guards Army PTI

Sean spent 6 years with 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, serving as a PTI and one year with the reserves. Sean holds the positions of Managing Director of Forces Fitness Ltd, Founder of the Veterans Awards CIC and is also an ambassador for the Welsh Governments’ Big Ideas Wales program.

Transcript from ‘How I Became A Welsh Guards Army PTI’ podcast

Sean – I went to the careers office and I was 18 years of age. I said, look I want to join the best Welsh regiment and who is it? This Welsh guards recruiting sergeant said, it’s the Welsh Guards son, so you come with me. Off I went to training and the first phase was Pirbright with the second phase up in Catterick. So plenty of hill training. I passed out after training, obviously and I remember getting off the train station in St James’s Park. If you know London very well, it’s near enough to Buckingham Palace. The first year of my military career was spent at Wellington Barracks, literally a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace.

The Royal Marines Baghdad Cookbook | Robbie Stevenson #334

The Royal Marines Baghdad Cookbook, features Robbie Stevenson of 45 Commando, who helped finish a book for his colleague, Alan Boyd.

The Royal Marines Baghdad Cookbook – Food Under Fire

The Baghdad Cookbook, features Robbie Stevenson who is a veteran of 45 Commando. After serving in multiple conflicts around the world, he moved into the private security sector. The book was initially written by Alan Boyd who joined the Royal Marines in 1979 and he served with 45 Commando during the Falklands War. Alan too moved into the world of private security as a team leader. He was diagnosed with Leukaemia and passed away in 2013. His book was finished by Robbie and Scotty Greig of The Royal Highland Fusiliers.

Transcript from ‘The Royal Marines Baghdad Cookbook’ podcast

Robbie – It’s actually the brainchild of Al Boyd, who was a former senior NCO in the in the Royal Marines. We worked together in Iraq as contractors. There’s three of us, myself, Al and Scotty Greig. He had this idea for a cookbook with dits and stories about people that he’d come into contact with. From the core and working out in Iraq.

The next thing we knew, he’d written the first chapter and he’d written the first draft of this book. Then Alan, the selfish git, went and died on us, so unfortunately he didn’t get a chance to see it through. Alan passed away in 2013 with leukemia and so I picked up the batton.

Loose Change The Film That Awoke A Generation

The Film That Awoke A Generation, features Chris chatting to the man who researched a series of films, detailing Bush and Blair’s road to what transpired in the middle east over the last twenty years.

Transcript from ‘Loose Change The Film That Awoke A Generation’ podcast

Jason – TV was over because there was no NBC, there’s no Late Night with David Letterman or none of that. No MTV, there’s no sports going on. CNN brought us the first televised war in the first 24-hour news. You saw competitors come in during the Clinton Administration, especially the Lewinsky MSNBC launches and Fox News launches. they’re there now but there’s nothing, literally nothing else on other than the news. We all saw together that Red Cross propaganda special where they were saying they were going to take care of the victims and then they stole all the money.
