Matt Hoy is a solo artist and former vocalist with UB40 Featuring Ali Cambell & Astro. After being with the band for many years, Matt was forced out after he expressed his right to not have medical procedures forced upon him. Matt had an underlying medical condition that supported his decision.

Matt – What happened was Ali was with them for whatever 25 to 27 years previous to that. The problem was he had management issues and financial issues within the structure of the original lineup. I don’t know the full details of that obviously because I wasn’t around. I became a singer with with Ali Campbell in 2010 and I was with him for 12 years. When he first left he was a solo artist with Mickey who was part of the original lineup and the keyboard player with the original band. He went with Ali and he left as he has some issues financially as well.
