Royal Marine SHOT TWICE By Amazon Pirates, features John Bathgate & Ian Roberts. Featured recently on international news, the two former Royal Marines were trying to navigate the Amazon on a charity adventure, when armed pirates tried to stand in their way.

Ian – He was kind of making motions for us to go off down the the smaller part of the river, so imagine a massive island right in front of us. He wanted us to go down the left-hand side which was out on the flow of the river. Bigger than the Thames, but it’s the smaller part of the river. We basically said no and he was beginning to piss us both off. He then stood up and pulled a pistol out and so before he could aim, I struck him with my paddle high up in the chest. I guess the best way we can kind of get out of that situation if there’s armed or just aggressive men. We’re both pretty big lads compared to most Peruvians.
