This podcast features Sean Conway. In 2013 he became the first person to have swam the length of Great Britain. He has also ran and cycled the same route. In 2016, Sean took on over 4000 miles, completing continuous Ultra Triathlons. He has also cycled unsupported across Europe. This year he has broken the world record.

Sean – Some muscles aren’t activating. My my right glute’s not activating, my lower right back is tight because I have a much stronger pull on my right hand side. I dislocated the shoulder doing the cheese rolling in 2009. So you know it’s it all sort of started with probably my over strong right pull stroke with an over rotation. This left arm is rubbish so there’s a lot of issues but I think it probably started in the swim and then on the bike. I was possibly got some saddle sores on my right hand side, so I think all I did is I tilted my hip at the wrong angle.

Adam – The rule is something that’s actually quite simple. What it does is tells you how long in time money will double at a given interest rate. Let’s say you’ve got ten thousand pounds and you’ve got it in a savings account. You’re getting one percent interest The rule of seventy two says if you take that and you divide it by the interest rate, that’ll tell you how many years your money will double. It’s obviously ten thousand pounds divided by seventy two, so that money is going to take 72 years to double.

Garnet – My skeptical lawyer brain kicked in and I said, why do you think you can help me when you can’t even help yourself? It looks like you’ve been sleeping on the street for weeks and you smell like a dead fish. Well he just cracked a big smile and said, you know looks can be deceiving. He goes on to say, you look like you’re a very successful corporate lawyer with everything under control but we both know that’s a facade. If you want to go back to your office and see if you can find all the answers you’ve been seeking all these years.
My intuition was screaming at me to say, yes okay, let’s sit down and talk to this guy, what do I have to lose? So I sat down on the bench and began talking to him. He told me early on that his name was Albert and he was one of my spirit guides. He’d disguised himself to meet with me, so we began a chat that went off and on for several months.

Ultra LEGEND, features Tom Evans, who is a former Welsh Guards British Army Captain. He first made his mark on the ultrarunning world in 2017, when he came third in the 251km desert ultra Marathon des Sables. Tom amazed once again in 2018, when he won the 101km CCC race at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, which also saw him take the top spot. He broke course records at the Coastal Challenge Costa Rica and the South Downs Way 50. At 2023’s Western States, the athlete took first place and even broke the record for the fastest overseas time at the Californian race. In 2020, Tom continued his great form at New Zealand’s Ultra Trail World Tour Tarawera, setting a new course record and laying down another marker for the year ahead.

Tom – Veterans typically do much better than they should do on paper, just through to a shared mindset. Those who are military and they’ve got some understanding, it’s like being on exercise for five or six days. It’s miserable but the fun bits are fun and the miserable bits are miserable. It’s definitely up there as one of my favourite races and I will be going back at some point. Probably not in the too distant future. Probably not next year but after that, who knows?

Nick – You’ve been on the go and you’re not really eating or sleeping. Then you’re under the shock of being caught and when you get into this situation, you are stripped down and all the rest of it. I put on these sets of clothes and I just froze for some reason. I was like thinking I’m not meant to, but I’m trying to remember the brief you know? I’m not going to sort of comply anyway, so I I didn’t react and this guy just got hold of me and slung me up against the wall. He pushed me up against the wall and bouncing me off every corner in this room. So I was naked you know and in these sort of stress positions. Either sat cross-legged on the floor or hands above your head and it’s crippling. You’re there for hours and hours.

Although thrust into fame & mixing with A-list celebrities, Penny went on to suffer with mental-health issues. She stated that, ‘Big Brother ruined my life’. Thankfully, Penny has come out the other side a far happier & wiser person.

Penny – I thought well blimey, I’ve already told the school who gave me a letter saying we expect you back on the first day after you come out. No one thought it was going to go anywhere and no one knew what reality TV was. So I’ve got a letter saying that I didn’t go to the union, nor got any advice. I didn’t read whatever I signed. You know I trusted these people and then they said they lost my tape, so they couldn’t add me in before anyway.
I thought well that’s it and then a couple of weeks later, one of the guys said, oh I want to redo your tape. Then they said we’re definitely having you. On the day I was finishing school I was supposed to go in on the Monday, so I had the weekend to pack my suitcase and all sorts of everything.
