Chris and Ollie

C – Ollie how are you brother?

O – I’m good mate, I’m really good, thanks for having me on.

C – Oh, I owe you a massive thanks, for several things. Not just the example you set, which is firing as I say. Also by doing myself and my girlfriend a massive favour by coming on the show. We have worked so hard now and you know you’ve walked that route yourself and taken action. You’ve been yourself, you’ve believed in your dream and if you don’t take action no one is going to do it for you. Forget the fear, take the action, but that doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly hard work. So the fact you’re helping me out Ollie by coming on for a chat, it’s massively appreciated and I know you are a busy man, with another book out.

O – Yeah it’s gone phenomenal but I just want to talk over that because you’ve hit the nail on the head there. A lot of people think by having a TV show, and I’m sure we’ll talk about the TV show later. Especially the public points of view, they think it comes easy you know, they think motivation comes easy, they think it’s just a walk in the park, and that’s why both my books have been absolutely honest you know and also the reason the second book is called Battle Ready…

Prev 1 of 1 Next

Peter Bleksley is a former New Scotland Yard detective, presenter and author. Viewers of New Scotland Yard Files will most likely recognise him as the ‘The Chief’ on Channel 4’s Hunted from 2015 until 2019. A decade later, he went on to create the Scotland Yard’s Undercover SO10 unit.

Chris and Peter

C – Peter, how are you Sir?

P – I’m very good thank you and perhaps I should say knowing what mental health means to you, in these challenging times. It’s also a passion of mine after having a couple of catastrophic breakdowns myself in my lifetime. How are you today?

C – Yes, I’m ok Peter, I have my system. The system that’s taken me fifty one years to learn. It sees me through thick and thin. It’s not to say it’s not an awful time. It’s more awful for some than others obviously, and it’s going to be fatal to many others. My real concern isn’t the people who have had a bit of a blast on the plant but the children and where their futures going. The freedoms that I experienced growing up being able to fly around the world and get drunk in eighty five different countries. All of that is being taken away from them. Anyway I said I wasn’t going to get political and I have to play by Youtube’s rules…

Chris and Neil

C – Hi everyone, glad you could join us for this episode with Neil Woods, as he has a fantastic story as one of the most successful undercover policeman this country has had. I’m privileged to know two former undercover police detectives, one of which has had to overcome some huge issues with trauma. I also had Peter Blexley on the show who speaks very, very highly of Neil being one of the countries leading detectives. So thank you on behalf of the podcast Neil, shall we go back to when you first joined to police force, which I’ve just been reading about.

N – Yeah if you’d like. I joined the police in 1989. The reason I did that, seeing as I didn’t have a boyhood ambition to join the police force. I wasn’t one of these people that always wanted to do it. I went to university by mistake, why I ever thought I was going to enjoy a business studies course, I’ve no idea! So I dropped out of that and considered what to do next, one of which was to backpack around Europe because a few friends had done that and it sounded adventurous. Then I saw an advert for the police in the newspaper and unable to make my mind up I flipped a coin. So I was literally flippant about my career choice. Then when I got into the police force I did feel that sense of duty, that I had to do a good job, but I was crap at it! I was no good at all, I almost lost my job several times in the first couple of years …

I chat to special forces legend and star of Chanel 4’s SAS Who Dares Wins Colin Maclachlan about life in the elite British army regiment and celebrity.

Transcript snippet from podcast

Chris and Colin

Chris – ‘Hello Friends, and welcome to another episode of the Bought The Tee Shirt podcast, as always I’m over the moon today because I’ve got yet another fascinating guest, a genuinely nice man. This gentleman supported me when I did my 999 mile run from John O Groats to Lands End, it really meant a lot to me and I’m proud to say hello to Colin MacLachlan.

Colin – It’s great to meet you virtually again, over zoom.

Chris – Yeah, and I should say I’m not one that’s big on introductions, but for those that don’t know Colin served how many years in the SAS?

Colin – So I served 18 years in the military. The first half with the Royal Scots, and the second half with the SAS …’

Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins 2020 Podcast with Colin Maclachlan Special Forces

I’m Chris Thrall, a former Royal Marines Commando. In this incredibly insightful podcast I chat to former Special Air Service Trooper Colin Maclachlan about his career in the Special Forces and working alongside Ant Middleton, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox, Oliie Ollerton and Billy Billingham on the hit Channel 4 TV show SAS Who Dares Wins.

Colin explained the difference between the SAS, Navy SEALS, Delta Force and the Special Boat Service, ‘SBS’, and their various military roles.

In addition to Operation Barras and HAHO and HALO skydiving, we discussed the current debate highlighted by former SAS soldier Rusty Firmin, who helped plan the Iranian Embassy hostage rescue during the 1980 siege of whether the shouting and swearing on the show is realistic or TV planning. Plus how celebrities like DJ Leon Rolle, Countryfile’s Helen Skelton, Jack Maynard of YouTube fame, boxer Tony Bellew, former footballer Josh Fashanu, Anthea Turner, Brendan Cole, Nikki Sanderson, radio DJ Yasmin Evans and Paralympian Lauren Steadman would fare in reality
