Kristin – I saw that he’d managed to get to the top camp without the right equipment. I don’t judge but that was just naivety on his part. We never met him before and we suddenly saw one person hanging upside down. When we first saw him, we didn’t know if it was a man, woman, porter, Sherpa or a climber. We just saw that it was a person that needed help and the person was without a down suit and gloves. Maybe they fell off without oxygen and was hanging in a position that was very unnatural. So what had happened before, we don’t know. We know for sure that if he’d have been in our team, we would never have let him up without down suit and oxygen.

Transcript from ‘I Visited EVERY Country & Climbed Mount Everest’ podcast

Johnny – If the American Media ever picks my story up, I just get a load of feedback like, rich white guy with his dad’s credit card. My upbringing is very different to that. I come from a single parent family, as my father was in prison. We were in a woman’s home and we ended up having to flee the south of Ireland, change our names and move to the north. It was a very turbulent childhood and then we were on the on welfare for 10 years, living off forty-five pounds per week. I was always poor, as poor as you can be in Ireland and I just remember feeling very restricted. We never had a holiday or any of that sort of stuff until I was fourteen or fifteen. I’d never been on an airplane and we didn’t have a car.

Chris and Alex

Hello Friends,

C – Alex, how are you brother?

A – I’m great thanks, good to be here and thanks for having me on.

C – Oh, it’s so kind that you agreed to come on at a pretty short notice. Although, we’re not really going anywhere at the moment, what with this lockdown. I saw your story on Linked In and I immediately thought, hang on I’ve seen this guy do a TedX talk. Which is impressive in itself. I remember you saying about turning adversity and bad experiences into something positive. Which is something I massively promote, if you don’t have a NO negative outlook, you’re just digging yourself into the ground.’
