After leaving the Royal Marines to run a successful business in Asia, Chris found himself homeless, suffering acute mental illness from crystal meth addiction and working for the Hong Kong triads. Declining conventional support, Chris rebuilt his life to become a qualified pilot, skydiver, adventurer and bestselling author. He has expeditioned to eighty countries on seven continents and raised thousands for charity. An extreme-endurance athlete, in 2018 Chris ran an ultra-marathon a day for thirty-seven days, unsupported, the length of Britain, to raise awareness of veterans suicide, and in 2019 a quadruple ironman consisting of a 9.6-mile swim, 450-mile cycle and a 107-mile run. Chris firewalked forty metres on red-hot coals to raise money to work with street children in war-torn Mozambique. He's driven volunteer journalists to India and back by bus to highlight global poverty. Chris was awarded the Second Level Commendation of the Finnish Nation on the grounds of Human Generosity for his ability to inspire others. Backpacking through every country in North, Central and South America, he dived off the famous cliff in Acapulco, caught piranhas and survived without equipment in the Amazon rainforest and snorkelled with bull sharks off Belize. In colder climes, he has scuba-dived with leopard seals and icebergs in the sub-zero waters of the Antarctic Polar Circle. Chris wrote the bestselling memoir Eating Smoke, a frank yet humorous account of his time down and out in Hong Kong. He has appeared on numerous podcasts and programs and two award-wining radio plays have been made about his life. Forty Nights, Chris’s second memoir, details how the life-changing experience of addiction led to his enlightenment. Chris has a degree in youth and community work and is a substance-misuse/addiction specialist. He presents this topic from a progressive perspective. Andrew – I was living in Argentina and I saw on television there was this fella, this exorcist. He was saying that he could cure people of all sorts of diseases. Out in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, that’s where he was operating. I got in touch with him and said I’d like to go and sort of follow him around for the next couple of months.

My friend David is a director and he was in Argentina at the same time as me. The two of us were like, okay let’s go out in the middle of nowhere. I am the guy ringing the bells and the bells are supposed to stave off the devil. I would sort of kneel over this young woman who was seventeen. The first one was Natalia and she was like thirty odd and she was suffering with urges, pushes and intrusive thoughts.

Nick – To know that you’re okay, you need to be working hard and go on that hill with weight. You don’t go out and just wear a pair of boots, you should be running five hundred meters in a pair of boots or walking around with them and then do one mile. Then doing two miles, four miles and then ten miles. After a while you just do it, don’t you? It’s not about just lobbing straight in there.

If you break your training down very specifically and then start to put it all together, you start taxing your body and there is a lot of research that’s been done recently. One of the guys that’s part of it, got a quite high acclaimed award. One of them’s got a Nobel prize as well. There’s three elements within our bodies and systems that normally are relatively dormant. A lot of research has proven that if you can stimulate these responses, this fight or flight or this defense mechanism, these elements fire off and they they suggest at the moment that it can contribute to maybe fourteen extra years of life.

In this podcast, Chris and Martin talk about war, winning multiple awards and the dangers of Indian building sites. Martin had served in Iraq and been vilified by the national press, for filming an apparant beating of Iraqi youths. The papers didn’t mention that the same youths had been throwing grenades at Martin’s unit for the past few days.

Martin – We’ve just seen it with what we’ve just gone through for the last two years and that’s been mass hypnosis. If you’ve been trained in hypnosis, one could see the mass hypnosis over the last two years. All the subliminal programming and all that stuff, but only seventy percent of the population have gone along with it. When they wake up from it, they’re going to go, ‘Oh my God, how did I believe in it?’ It’s because we’ve been taken in by all these embedded suggestions.

Chris served in 3 Commando, Rhodesian Light Infantry from 1976 to 1979. He saw continuous action against Mugabe’s ZANLA and NKomo’s ZIPRA forces. Airmobile in Alouette III helicopters and vintage C-47 Dakotas, Chris amassed over twenty combat jumps. The Rhodesian commandos were at the spearhead on cross-border raids into Zambia and Mozambique.

Chris – There were probably three or four fire forces in operation at any one time. Not all were operated by the R.L.I. with a couple being operated by the Rhodesian African Rifles. They raised the fire force strength from three helicopters and a Dakota DC3 converted. The Dakota could take sixteen to twenty pairs at a time.

What had happened, is the fire force would take the three helicopters and they’d go off to the contact area with the Lynx hovering around. The helicopters would go back and try and pick up a second wave of troops if they could. Depending on how the contact developed, he would utilize his powers and they would drop sixteen to twenty to troops. They would become the sweep line.

King Arthur Uther Pendragon is an eco-campaigner, Druid leader and self-declared reincarnation of King Arthur. Born into a working-class family, Arthur served in the Royal Hampshire Regiment and went on to form the Loyal Arthurian Warband. Angered by the English Heritage charging money to visit Stonehenge, he picketed outside on a daily basis. Joining with the council of British Druid Orders, they campaigned for open access to Stonehenge. Arthur has also stood in several elections as an independant candidate for Salisbury. In 2003, Pendragon published his autobiography, ‘The Trials of Arthur’.

Arthur – One of the arguments I had with the Pagan community, is if you go around Britain and look at a lot of the sacred Pagan sites, they were at one stage Christianized. Effectively what he was saying, was that if they’re going to go and worship anyway, you may as well build a church. A lot of the Pagans say, well what the hell is that doing on an ancient Pagan site? They Christianized it and they’ve stole it and I always say no.
