After leaving the Royal Marines to run a successful business in Asia, Chris found himself homeless, suffering acute mental illness from crystal meth addiction and working for the Hong Kong triads. Declining conventional support, Chris rebuilt his life to become a qualified pilot, skydiver, adventurer and bestselling author. He has expeditioned to eighty countries on seven continents and raised thousands for charity. An extreme-endurance athlete, in 2018 Chris ran an ultra-marathon a day for thirty-seven days, unsupported, the length of Britain, to raise awareness of veterans suicide, and in 2019 a quadruple ironman consisting of a 9.6-mile swim, 450-mile cycle and a 107-mile run. Chris firewalked forty metres on red-hot coals to raise money to work with street children in war-torn Mozambique. He's driven volunteer journalists to India and back by bus to highlight global poverty. Chris was awarded the Second Level Commendation of the Finnish Nation on the grounds of Human Generosity for his ability to inspire others. Backpacking through every country in North, Central and South America, he dived off the famous cliff in Acapulco, caught piranhas and survived without equipment in the Amazon rainforest and snorkelled with bull sharks off Belize. In colder climes, he has scuba-dived with leopard seals and icebergs in the sub-zero waters of the Antarctic Polar Circle. Chris wrote the bestselling memoir Eating Smoke, a frank yet humorous account of his time down and out in Hong Kong. He has appeared on numerous podcasts and programs and two award-wining radio plays have been made about his life. Forty Nights, Chris’s second memoir, details how the life-changing experience of addiction led to his enlightenment. Chris has a degree in youth and community work and is a substance-misuse/addiction specialist. He presents this topic from a progressive perspective. Nick is a highly successful athlete across a broad spectrum of physical and mental disciplines. He has won competitions internationally across a range of events. These include sprint triathlons, ultra mountain races and long expeditions across the world with the Special Forces. Nick – When I joined HRC I had to do a separate selection. It was devised by a bit of a legend that was in 22. I won’t mention his name, if you don’t mind, but he was an inspirational character and helped me facilitate my move forward. In actual fact, he was the one that approached me on a number of times and said, ‘I want you to go for HRC’.

What we found was that everybody from 22 and 23, were very capable SF soldiers. When they went to 22, they all got stand-up fails at the end. They weren’t right for that unit and much later, the guy who devised HRC, had a look at that whole political kind of situation I believe. I’d left by that time in 2004 and said, look this isn’t good enough. These are these are lads that essentially I have trained, because I devised this unit called HRC.

Brendon Prince, a sea safety campaigner from Torquay, is the first person to paddleboard along the whole coast of Great Britain. Brendon’s aim is to raise £200,000 to increase awareness of water safety. Along his mammoth journey, high winds, storms and even losing a paddle has not stopped Brendon from reaching his goal. Along his way he’s seen devious tactics by water companies who were dumping raw sewage when the weather was foggy. Brendon arrived back in his hometown on April 27th, after his 3,800 mile challenge.

Brendon – I set up Torbay life-saving club, ten years ago this month. I was just fed up in Torbay of what seemed a a lack of knowledge of the most basics. Even knowing that the tide goes in or out that the water in the sea gets deeper. You know these are the most basic things people didn’t know and were getting into trouble with. I set up the life-saving club to try and get as much knowledge in Torbay as possible.

Nigel ‘Spud’ Ely’s soldiering career was with the Parachute Regiment, followed by the SAS. Spud then found work as a Military Consultant and a war photojournalist. His career has taken him in to some of the most deadly, high-octane, violent battles of the modern era. From Northern Ireland to Iraq, Spud has been in the thick of the most ferocious fighting of modern times. His book, ‘Bring Me The Arse Of Saddam’, is his story of trying to keep hold of his momento from Iraq.

Nigel – Yes I’ve got a book coming out in March next year, called ‘Goose Green uncensored voices’. It took me three years to put together and I basically traveled up and down this great nation of ours, to interview the guys that were there, including the civilians, the navy and air force. Also the guys that work there at the front and the guys that helped us win the battle. So that’s kind of an exciting project that’s been reviewed at the Frankfurt book show this week. I’m really excited about that. I left the paras, joined the S.A.S. and I was one of the youngest to join at the time.

I left the the S.A.S. then went on to do military contracting which they now call, ‘The business’, in Iraq and Afghanistan. We used to call it body guarding but now they call it C.P. don’t they? Then I became a war correspondent and I covered a bit of Afghanistan. Basically I wanted to cover the invasion or liberation of Iraq, depending on what side of the political fence you sit at.

Fisherman’s Friends features Julian Seager, who is a British actor known for his roles in Doc Martin, Poldark and Fisherman’s Friends.

Julian Seager is an English award-winning character actor. He appears in Fisherman’s Friends and has recently had a lead role in the horror movie Election Night. Julian has featured in TV shows such as Bafta award-winning Poldark and Miracle Workers. Perhaps his most famous role is Fisherman Tom in the highly-successful, Doc Martin.

He also appears in movies such as Death Race 4, Scareycrows, Viking Legacy, Survivorz and a plethora of Independent films. The horror short, Baghead, has won many awards, including best supporting actor for Julian at the British Horror Film Festival. His deep and versatile voice has lead him to work in narration and gaming.

Julian – You have to be able to take on accents and you know I’m not happy with accents. I tend to do them when I’m in the shoot or in that mode. They’re all still there but I don’t tend to be able to just pull them out my pocket. I’m kind of a method, character actor. I’ll just find an accent for that individual character that I’m playing and then just keep hold of it. I tend to store them away afterwards and I just forget about them. I get asked if I’ll do this accent or that accent and it’s not how I work, so it’s weird.
