C – Well, I’m never going to complain anyway! You get one life, if you want to spend it depressed, I’ve done all that shit mate and I’m not doing it again.
A – You’re right, you’ve got one life and you live it to the full mate, that’s what it’s about.
C – My first question, is it true that the Royal Marines are better than the Paras?
A – What I’m going to say about that one is the new advertising poster ‘Ready for Anything’ is outstanding! At the end of the day, if you can’t have a bit of banter with fellow servicemen, then there’s something wrong. The Marines respect the Paras and the Paras respect the Marines. So at the end of the day we all get the job done.

Hello Friends!
I hope this finds you well.
I’m Chris Thrall. I’m a former Royal Marines Commando turned author, adventurer and the host of the popular Bought the T-Shirt Podcast. I’m been fortunate to have lived, worked and travelled in over 85 countries across all seven continents. I’m a qualified pilot, skydiver and advanced scuba diver. I’ve backpacked through every country in North, South and Central America. I’ve taught street children in post-war Mozambique and driven journalists to India and back by coach. I’ve also expeditioned to the Antarctic Polar circle to dive on icebergs. I’m now hold a degree in youth work. I’m a substance misuse specialist and an inspirational speaker.
But my life wasn’t always so adrenaline-fuelled and adventured packed …
Upon leaving the Royal Marines I completely lost my mental health and ended up homeless. But without any support from professionals or groups, I got my life back on track and now support others to do likewise and I raise money for veterans charities.
In 2018 I ran an ultramarathon a day #999miles the length of Britain. In 2019 for my 50th birthday I completed a quadruple ironman-distance triathlon, swimming 9 miles, cycling 450 and running for 108.
Now I need YOUR support as I take on my toughest challenge yet!
On the 22nd December 2020 I will be running home-less for Christmas. I will run 200 miles around the Brickfields running track in Plymouth – that’s 800 laps – to raise awareness of the UK’s homelessness problem and funds for the Baton veterans charity. I’ve picked a running track to represent the boredom, monotony and endless drudge of being street homeless. I’ve picked Christmas to symbolise the loneliness and lack of empathy that socially excluded people face – not just during the festive season but throughout their lives.

C – Hello Friends, that reminds of me when you’re trying to buy drugs and someone promises you the world. You just kinda know that something isn’t right and then bang, your money has gone and they don’t come back.
D – There was a great drought in London of just about everything back in 2010 and people were cheating all the time. If you find yourself on the 10th floor of a council block and there’s three or four people on the landing, you’re in for a rough time. I don’t know, maybe we learn a forgiveness for that, up to a point. Depending on how much damage has been done.

M – I’m good, I’m good. Mentally I’m good anyways, and spirit wise. Body is quite conditioned to be fair. Obviously I’m not fresh, but that’s what you can expect from a challenge like that.
C – So just briefly for our guests at home could you outline what you’ve just done so they know what we’re talking about?
M – I set out to raise some money for the NHS and the PPE for the situation we find ourselves in with Covid. I came up with idea after the lockdown, isolation and quarantine to create a mountain in my front garden. However I’ve already done Mt Everest replication on a Stairmaster, so I needed to trump that. I created a one metre mountain and climbed it for the equivalent of the highest mountain in the solar system.’
