Nims then passed selection for the UK’s special-forces and served another ten years with the Special Boat Service. After leaving the forces, Nims has gone on to become one of the world’s greatest mountaineers. He has accumulated an ever-growing list of record-breaking climbs and rescue missions. After one such mission, Nims was awarded an MBE for outstanding achievement in high-altitude mountaineering. His Netflix documentary, ’14 Peaks’, follows his attempt to summit all 14 of the world’s ‘Death Zone’ peaks in just seven months.
Transcript from ’14 PEAKS The Nimsdai Story’ podcast
Nims – Thank you Chris. You know it’s a really humbling. Everything I do in life, I give one-hundred percent and writing this book was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I’m not sure if i’m going to write another book if i’m honest. When you write something, it becomes black and white, then it becomes concrete. To write this amount of an enormous book up to this stage, it’s kind my autobiography. I grew up in a very small humbling background with almost nothing. To joining The Gurkhas, failing on the first attempt and then making it happen. Then going into the special forces and serving with the elite forces for ten years.

Can You REFUSE To Serve In An Illegal Conflict? | Joe Glenton #225
Can you refuse to serve, features Joe Glenton who went on the run, after refusing to go back and fight in Afghanistan
Can You REFUSE To Serve In An Illegal Conflict?
Joe Glenton was a lance corporal with the Royal Logistics Corps, who vowed not to return to Afghanistan. After going on the run for a full 737 days, Joe was jailed at the ‘Glasshouse’ in Colchester. The court-martial heard that Joe had been suffering from PTSD after his first tour of duty. He was later officially discharged from the British army. Joe is now a journalist, film-maker and award-winning author.
Transcript from ‘Can You Refuse To Serve In An Illegal Conflict’ podcast
Joe – I was in a deeply unglamorous corps, as I was in the Royal Logistics corps. I joined which would have been ordnance corps. I’m not exactly sure, but yes I joined in 2004 for probably the same reasons most people do. I’m from a working-class background, it was a route out of that and loved it. I was keen, green and I was gonning to stay forever, which is what we all say at the start. It was the era of Iraq and Afghanistan, so we went to Afghanistan and did a tour. For me it wasn’t a terribly kinetic tour. I was doing the ammunition with the 13 air assault regiment. We were the logistics element of that went out. Over the course of the tour, I started to question the kind of rationales about why we were in Afghanistan.
We were given lots of reasons, such as, it’s about helping women to go to school or stopping the opium trade. I think those started to fall away over the course of the tour. I wasn’t a very political person at the time, but that developed. Not on tour, because you don’t really have time on tour as you know yourself. After that I think that started to crystallize into a kind of critique, a critique of the war in a very uncomplicated way. A moral objection to what was going on and I planned to just get out of the military.

Danny – My love for music started at a very young age, through my mother having the radio on. My father worked at a printers so he’d either be sleeping during the day or at work.
I loved records at family parties and I used to put the records on. I just loved music from a very young age. My imagination was making this picture of the studio on on a ship, somewhere off the coast in the Atlantic. That’s where it started, collecting records at a very young age and I wanted to be on the radio.

SAS trooper bring me the arse of Saddam, features SAS legend, Nigle ‘Spud’ Ely, with his tale of attaining part of the famous statue of Saddam Hussain.
SAS Trooper Bring Me The Arse Of Saddam
Nigel ‘Spud’ Ely’s soldiering career was with the Parachute Regiment, followed by the SAS. Spud then found work as a Military Consultant and a war photojournalist. His career has taken him in to some of the most deadly, high-octane, violent battles of the modern era. From Northern Ireland to Iraq, Spud has been in the thick of the most ferocious fighting of modern times. His book, ‘Bring Me The Arse Of Saddam’, is his story of trying to keep hold of his momento from Iraq.
Transcript from ‘SAS Trooper Bring Me The Arse Of Saddam’ podcast
Nigel – Yes I’ve got a book coming out in March next year, called ‘Goose Green uncensored voices’. It took me three years to put together and I basically traveled up and down this great nation of ours, to interview the guys that were there, including the civilians, the navy and air force. Also the guys that work there at the front and the guys that helped us win the battle. So that’s kind of an exciting project that’s been reviewed at the Frankfurt book show this week. I’m really excited about that. I left the paras, joined the S.A.S. and I was one of the youngest to join at the time.
I left the the S.A.S. then went on to do military contracting which they now call, ‘The business’, in Iraq and Afghanistan. We used to call it body guarding but now they call it C.P. don’t they? Then I became a war correspondent and I covered a bit of Afghanistan. Basically I wanted to cover the invasion or liberation of Iraq, depending on what side of the political fence you sit at.

Fisherman’s Friends | Doc Martin | Julian Seager
Julian Seager is an English award-winning character actor. He appears in Fisherman’s Friends and has recently had a lead role in the horror movie Election Night. Julian has featured in TV shows such as Bafta award-winning Poldark and Miracle Workers. Perhaps his most famous role is Fisherman Tom in the highly-successful, Doc Martin.
He also appears in movies such as Death Race 4, Scareycrows, Viking Legacy, Survivorz and a plethora of Independent films. The horror short, Baghead, has won many awards, including best supporting actor for Julian at the British Horror Film Festival. His deep and versatile voice has lead him to work in narration and gaming.
Transcript from ‘Fisherman’s Friends Doc Martin’ podcast
Julian – You have to be able to take on accents and you know I’m not happy with accents. I tend to do them when I’m in the shoot or in that mode. They’re all still there but I don’t tend to be able to just pull them out my pocket. I’m kind of a method, character actor. I’ll just find an accent for that individual character that I’m playing and then just keep hold of it. I tend to store them away afterwards and I just forget about them. I get asked if I’ll do this accent or that accent and it’s not how I work, so it’s weird.

Transcript from the ‘Hollywood Music Mogul’ podcast
Lee – It’s been quite a journey. I left school in 1989 and I never really had a job, other than doing music. You start out super enthusiastic and super green; not kind of knowing what you’re going to come up against. I think if you did you probably wouldn’t do it. There are a bunch of electronic artists who are now doing film scores and they’re using all the weird techniques. They’re the artists in film schools and some of those are absolutely mind-blowing, they’re really worth checking out.

I PULLED A BMW For TWO Days! | Captain Daz Hardy
Captain Darren Hardy joined the British Army in 2003. Darren’s leadership saw him promoted onto officer training at Sandhurst, graduating within the top third of his cohort. After sustaining physical injuries, he was discharged from the forces. With Darren’s experience as an Army Physical Training Instructor, he was selected to represent team UK at the 2018 Warrior Games. Winning two gold medals, Darren continued to take on extraordinary fitness challenges and has supported many charities. Daz’s latest charity event, is to run five marathons in fifty hours for children with the rare brain disease, H-ABC.
Transcript from ‘I Pulled A BMW For TWO Day!’ podcast
Daz – Instantly overnight, I changed from sitting in Tesco’s car park crying to my uncle on the phone and telling him what I planning to do the next day, to being up at zero four-twenty, getting out and training hard. Next we did the the oxygen chamber thing. I’ve always got a good supportive team around me, but generally it’s solo. So that was the world’s highest triathlon; 190 kilometers in a 12 and a half thousand feet, with a mask on. Before that it was ten ultra-distance triathlons in ten days and ten locations; that was pretty pretty epic.

All Arms Commando Course & Rowing The Atlantic | Podcast #216
All arms commando course & rowing the Atlantic ocean, features Jack Jarvis, who is setting out to row across the Atlantic ocean, unsupported.
All Arms Commando Course & Rowing The Atlantic
Jack Jarvis is a resourceful, adaptive and tenacious individual. After joining the British army at 16 years old, he immediately volunteered for the All Arms Commando course. On successful completion, he spent the next seven years of his career within 59 Commando Squadron. This gave Jack a wealth of experience in risk management and operating in high stress situations. Jack won the British Army indoor rowing league in 2019. Jack’s next endeavour is to row 4500 nautical miles across the Altantic ocean, unsupported.
Transcript from ‘All Arms Commando Course’ podcast
Jack – I’ll be the first person to go from mainland Europe, to mainland north America, non-stop, solo unsupported. That just means you can’t stop anywhere, not in the Canaries or the Caribbean. People say you’re mad or you’re brave and I remember when I first volunteered for 59 Commando. I could do two pull-ups and I couldn’t climb the 30 meter rope.

Last Breath On The Sea Bed | Bought The T-Shirt Podcast #215
Last breath on the sea bed features Chris Lemons, a commercial diver who was stranded on the sea bed with only minutes of oxygen left to survive.
Last Breath On The Sea Bed | Chris Lemons
Chris Lemons has been a commercial diver for over 14 years and currently specialises in deep sea saturation diving. In September of 2012, a failure of the dynamic positioning system, resulted in his umbilical cord being completely severed. In total darkness, 300 feet on the sea-bed, Chris had just five minutes of breathing left. With no way to protect himself from the freezing temperatures, only quick thinking could save Chris from certain death.
Transcript from ‘Last Breath On The Sea Bed’ podcast
Chris – It’s definitely a profession that potentially can be very dangerous. I’ve been lucky, I’ve always worked in good places. I’m a saturation diver now and you have to do so many years as an air diver. I worked off sort of the west coast of Africa, Brazil and the middle east, places like that. Generally I work for big companies where safety has been paramount. You get to the point where you’ve worked in those situations, you know that becomes second nature to you. I wouldn’t go anywhere and accept anything else now. You know I wouldn’t accept it for anybody I was working with either.
